Without a doubt, 2020 taught us all about building resilience both at home and at work (not least because home became our place of work).
With 2021 pushing us to keep building our powers of resilience, it was fantastic to hear from Steph Peltier on her top techniques for developing the resilience you need to deal with whatever is thrown your way.
If you missed the session today, we’ve got some key takeaways below for you:
Identifying Your Energy Leaks: Science has shown that more energy is depleted from our inner battery due to the smaller stressors in our lives. Make a list of everything that drains your energy, particularly those smaller elements, and concentrate firstly on reducing stress in those areas.
Focusing on What You Can Control: In your list of situations that impact your resilience, identify those items you can influence and just take action on what is in your control, no matter how small.
Using Heart-Focused Breathing: Simply close your eyes, place a hand on your heart, bring your awareness to where your heart is in your chest and then visualise you’re breathing in and out of your heart. By taking just three minutes a day to incorporate this practice into your routine, you will almost instantly take the charge out of your stress and renew your energy.
Creating Opportunities to Nourish Yourself: Note down those key moments that help you to recover and plan those into your everyday. Do this in the same way as you’d plan your to do list for work.
