For Blue Monday 2021 we decided to turn what is known as the most depressing day of the year around by doing what we do best and learning from real-world experience.

From the low temperatures, to lack of sunlight, to days since last payday, Blue Monday is said to be such a dreary day in the UK for a number of reasons. It’s no wonder why most of us need a bit of cheering up. And despite the lack of scientific evidence behind the day, there’s definitely that extra struggle to get out of bed in January, never mind during a Covid induced lockdown.

All these factors considered, we weren’t going to let Blue Monday just have it’s way with us. Not this year.

That’s why we created Blue Monday by PepTalk.

Our Blue Monday consisted of four 20-minute sessions with four of our fantastic experts on the following topics:

We chose these because now more than ever, we’re committed to pushing employee welfare to the front of organisations by making easy access to expert advice possible. When employees are engaged and know the best strategies for looking after themselves in and out of work, we know from research that productivity increases dramatically, and more importantly, people become happier.

For leaders too, particularly when burnout is rife, looking after yourself so you can look after your people has the ripple effect to not only keep them floating but truly help them and your business to thrive.

A few of our favourite takeaways included creating a ‘done list’ at the end of the day to help you focus on the positives from Vix.

Steph also enlightened us to how the ability to enjoy the good things in life together with your ability to bounce back from difficulty is key to happiness, it’s all in your mindset! How we perceive it and how we choose to react is such a large part of how happy we are.

Marc taught us the importance of switching up our daily routines whether that’s taking a new route on your walk or trying a new genre of music.

Of course, also, ‘Eat a banana for an extra hit of dopamine…show me anyone who isn’t happy after eating a banana’ was a personal favourite of ours’ as well from Pratik. You better believe we’re stocking up by the bunch.

It was wonderful to hear not only the actionable steps we can take to feeling better, but also the science behind why these tactics work.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Vix, Steph, Pratik and Marc for joining us. The response from the sessions has been amazingly positive, and we were thrilled to see so many of you there. It was great to hear in the feedback just how many listeners will now be incorporating new strategies into their everyday routines whether that’s learning to reframe situations or implementing new mindfulness techniques. We’re so pleased to be able to share the strategies and hope they make a big impact in 2021.
